The brief

Our clients move to the country for a slower pace of life and found a beautiful cottage in much need of some TLC. We were asked to create a traditional kitchen with an AGA but with a modern feel to bring this old house back to life

Our execution

An AGA would need to be featured into the kitchen sympathetically so the solution was to build a bespoke chimneybreast, a feature that would look as if it had always been there. Deep drawers were designed at either side of the Aga enabling perfectly placed storage for large pots and pans with easy access when cooking.

The island was designed to house a single oven and induction hob for additional cooking facilities. The larder unit is situated next to the integrated fridge freezer so all frequently used items are stored within easy reach of the prep area.

We used a two-tone colour scheme, Chateau and Shaker Red from Zoffany for a hint of individuality. White quartz worktops create a soft contrast for the main units while the oak worktop on the island complements the oak flooring. The foxed glass gives a modern look and practical splash-back behind the AGA.

The utility room needed storage. Floor to ceiling units were designed to house a washing machine, vacuum cleaner, brooms and ironing board etc and another for coats, jackets shoes and wellies. A large single Belfast sink and traditional tap was the perfect combination for elegant style and functionality.

“It was important to us to be sympathetic to the age and style of our cottage. Weinstantly clicked with Julia who new exactly how to achieve the look we wanted. Her vast product knowledge and flair for design meant we were given many options to help us chose the right elements for our kitchen and utility”

The brief

Stef & Hannah are both successful YouTuber’s and they needed a multifunctional kitchen that would not only be practical but also be a space they could use in filming their videos. Intelligent lighting would be the key factor

Our execution

Being a young family we wanted to separate the serious cooking from the main dining table/children’s area. With two small boys and busy work commitments the peninsular and breakfast bar quickly became the most needed and practical area of the kitchen enabling ample prep space for varied mealtimes and filming

We used the colour “Railings” from Farrow & Ball for the cabinetry, contrasting the deep blue with white quarts worktops and flat white metro wall tiles for a dramatic effect. Reclaimed scaffolding planks were turned into shelves to add some interest
